ZeniMax Acquires Rights To Publish RAGE, But Why Did EA Let It Go?

ZeniMax Media Inc., parent company of id Software, announced today that it has picked up the publishing rights for RAGEā„¢, the video game under development at id Software.

RAGE will be published by Bethesda Softworks, another ZeniMax subsidiary. As a result, Electronic Arts Inc. will not be involved in the sales and marketing of RAGE. The ongoing development of RAGE is unaffected by this development. So for those of you that don’t know the backstory we have been hearing about RAGE since early 2008. We don’t know if its was creative differences between id and EA or if EA just didn’t think that the title would be what they thought it was. It doesn’t seem like RAGE is vaporware, but there are real reasons why EA let it go and we will see if Zenimax has what it take to bring this to fruition.
